Belfast Film Festival Call For Entries

The Belfast Film Festival has announced its film submission deadline for the 3rd annual Maysles Brothers Award for Best Documentary and the Jameson Short Film Competition to be held on April 10-19, 2008.
The international documentary competition has grown in size and stature since it was launched by Albert Maysles in 2005. International exposure has increased annually with award-winners including Sisters in Law by Kim Longinotto and Nomadak TX by Raul de la Fuente.
The documentary competition continues to present World, European, UK and Irish premieres of the best documentaries showcasing an observational style to a UK and Irish marketplace. It is held in partnership with Maysles Films in New York and was established in honour of the pioneering direct cinema career of Albert and David Maysles.
The Jameson shorts competition has become a highlight of the annual festival with filmmakers from across Ireland showcasing their work to a panel of industry experts. Previous winners include Fluent Dysphasia directed by Daniel O’Hara, The Secret Language directed by Brian Durnin and The White Dress directed by Vanessa Gildea
The entry deadline for both 2008 competitions is December 6, 2007 and submission forms can be downloaded from the website at www.belfastfilmfestival.org
