Broadcast Networks Appoints Chris As Systems Engineer
UK Systems Integration specialist Broadcast Networks has employed a new systems engineer.
After successfully completing a two-year broadcast engineering course at Ravensbourne College, Chris King was given the chance to put theory into practice in his new position.
Over the summer, King has worked on a number of projects for Broadcast Networks, including the installation of a new network operations centre at Chellomedia in Amsterdam and a new television studio in Berlin for Bloomberg TV.
His maturity and level of ability so impressed Broadcast Networks’ managing director Tom Haye that he offered him a permanent position on the company’s engineering team. This came into effect from October 1st.
“Chris is a real asset to the company,” said Tom Haye. “He has strong engineering skills and an ability to work in a responsible and reliable way, even when under pressure. I was very impressed with the work he did for us in the summer.
"After seeing how well he coped with some very complex projects, I had no hesitation in offering him a permanent role.”
King has been interested in engineering and electronics for many years and went to Ravensbourne on the back of successful A Level results in various subjects including electronics.
Earlier this year he was appointed Head of Engineering for the college’s student broadcasting event, ‘Rave on Air’. He approached Broadcast Networks for assistance and was loaned equipment to help stage the event. That initial introduction led to King being offered a temporary contract over the summer.
“I have really enjoyed working with Tom and have been made to feel incredibly welcome by the Broadcast Networks team,” he said. “I’m delighted that my temporary status has now been made permanent and I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead, which I am sure will provide me with plenty of opportunity to continue learning and developing my engineering skill base.”
While studying at Ravensbourne, King undertook a number of work placements. These included two stints at the IBC Convention where he helped out in Technical Resources for the event and news broadcast. He has also worked with Telegenic on a football match for experience in OB work and on the HD Masters Conference in 2006, which took place at the London IMAX.
