Camera Corps Invest In High Definition Facilities

Shepperton based Camera Corps Ltd who supply specialised cameras, robotic heads and camera tracking system to sporting events around the world, including the Olympic Games, The World Cup, The Commonwealth Games and the World Swimming Championships, to name but a few, have announced a major new investment in HD facilities with the proposed purchase of a large number of new HD cameras and lenses.
Managing Director Laurie Frost said: "With a number of major sporting events in the calendar for the next year, we have in some instances been asked to provide over 90 HD minicams. These are simply not available on the rental market, so we have decided to invest in a range of new HD cameras and lenses ourselves. In the longer term we also envisage that many of the ‘Reality TV’ and Entertainment Programmes, where we provide camera and robotic head facilities, will be produced in HD. The new cameras will enable us to provide Reality TV production companies with the HD equipment they require."
The majority of cameras will be purchased from Hitachi who currently produce two HD ‘minicams’. The DK-H32 model is a full function ‘box’ camera with 3 x 2/3” 2 megapixel ccds. Camera Corps own tests have confirmed that the specification and performance of this camera is as good as most ‘full-size’ HD cameras.
These will be supplemented by the much smaller new Hitachi model, the HV-D30, which has 3 x 1.3 megapixel CMOS sensors. This camera is fully switchable to most HD formats and provides an HD-SDI output directly from the camera body, without the need for an additional CCU. Full remote control CCU functions are provided.
Some additional camera models will come from Sony, providing Camera Corps with a total compliment of over 90 HD cameras and lenses.
The arrival of these cameras will make Camera Corps the largest supplier of small, full quality HD cameras in Europe.
