IBC 2007 Marks 40th Birthday Of Event

What started as an event in a London hotel has now grown into the leading international convention for content creation, management and delivery.
This year marks four decades of the event's exhibitions, technical conference, creative workshops, business discussions, new technology, training, events now all spread over six days in Amsterdam RAI each September.
Last year 'hall 12' was opened just to accommodate the demand from new exhibitors and this year more floor space will be provided in a temporary building. In addition to the Mobile Zone, the IPTV Zone is where the key players will be found demonstrating and talking about the technology, how to implement it, and how to benefit from it.
From an unknown technology just a few years ago, digital signage is now set for rapid growth with some experts estimating a $1 billion market by 2012. That is why IBC2007 will reflect the growing business of digital signage.
“Clearly this is a growing area of business, so we are developing an initiative that allows manufacturers to showcase their systems, running common content developed with IBC, in a dedicated zone,” said Phil White, IBC Director of Technology and events. “Our aim is to attract an audience from new areas including retail and construction as well as systems integrators and installers.”
As well as the exhibition zone IBC is driving the event with a business briefing session which will be held over the weekend, based on a recent high profile digital signage case study.
This will be followed by a networking social event, allowing suppliers, installers and customers to meet over cocktails.
One of the most important ways that IBC delivers is the conference theme days. This year’s conference themes are: Broadcasting by broadband; Digital Lifestyles; Content Production; and D-cinema.
The Training Zone returns once again this year, giving visitors the chance to spend hands-on time with the latest tools such as desktop editing, graphics and surround sound. The Big Screen Experience runs throughout IBC not just for the D-cinema theme day.
New last year and continued this year are the IBC Award for Innovation and the shortlist for this year’s IBC Awards for Innovation will be announced shortly.
The organisers are expecting at least 45,000 visitors to IBC2007, which stretches even the resources of a major city like Amsterdam. So it's never too early to book a hotel room.
