Three London Organisations Successful In First Round Of Mediabox Applications

Three London organisations have been successful in the first round of Mediabox applications.
Mediabox is a £6 million Department for Education and Skills fund for disadvantaged 13-19 year olds to make media projects. Organisations and individuals can apply for one of three funds, with awards of between £500 and £80,000.
Over £800,000 has been awarded in the first round. The Film and Video Workshop and Connections Communications Centre were both awarded grants of £80,000 to run film projects with disadvantaged young people in the capital. Open House was also awarded £20,000 to run an interactive media and games project.
There are four more funding rounds running until November 2008. The next application deadline is 22 May 2007.
Find out more on the Mediabox page, visit the official website at www.media-box.co.uk or email: nicholas.dossetor with any general queries.
Mediabox will be delivered by a consortium led by First Light Movies, in partnership with Media Trust, Skillset and the UK Film Council.
