Waddell Media Secures Deal With American Indie Eddie October Productions

Northern Ireland-based Waddell Media has secured a deal with American independent production company Eddie October Productions for the US format rights to its phenomenally successful series 'How Long Will You Live?'.
The format license contract was agreed in January 2007 and negotiated by Outright Distribution on behalf of Waddell Media.
Eddie October Productions are behind NBC’s, Tommy Lee Goes to College and Comedy Central’s Wanda Does It. They will be pitching the series to major networks - having taken a nine month option themselves on the format. The series has also been picked up in Germany and is under consideration from other territories.
Presented by Dr Mark Hamilton, the resident medic on BBC Radio 1’s Sunday Surgery, How Long Will You Live? was devised and produced by Waddell Media. Unhealthy subjects are given expert medical assessments before being encouraged to change their lifestyles and take up a new activity in the hope of extending their life expectancy.
It has proved enormously popular, with both series averaging above a 30% share on RTE One. The company is currently negotiating with RTE for a third series and volunteers from all over Ireland are queuing up to take part.
Chris Bonney of Outright Distribution said: "How Long Will You Live? is a strong factual format with a great track record in its home territory. The US deal is just the sort of development that can create strong momentum for a format like this."
