LA Opened The Mill To Major On 2D And CG Visual Effects

The Mill, the international visual effects group, has announced that most of its senior 2D Flame and CG talent was now in place at the recently opened The Mill, Los Angeles.
The new facility will major on 2D and CG visual effects and offer virtual colour grading from colourists based in London and New York.
Heading up the new Santa Monica office is Executive Producer Gabby Gourrier, the former Executive Producer of Digital Domain Commercials and Asylum VFX. During her long tenure at these other LA shops, Gourrier has worked with such high-profile directors such as Jake Scott, Tom Kuntz and Joe Pytka. Coming on board as Deputy Executive Producer is Helen Hughes who joins from The Mill London office where she was Deputy Head of Production. Hughes has produced award winning commercials for some of the best directors in the industry including Ivan Zacharias's Honda 'Impossible Dream', Vaseline 'Sea' and Rexona 'Stunt City'.
The new LA Flame team includes three senior Flame artists, Chris Knight and Phil Crowe from The Mill London and Dave Parker from The Mill New York. Chris Knight’s recent credits include Dante Ariola’s Johnnie Walker 'Human', Lyn Fox's Audi 'Spider' and Axe 'Crashes'. Phil Crowe, partnered with Brian Beletic on Nike Air Jordan and has collaborated on multiple projects with Rattling Stick Director Ringan Ledwidge, most recently a spot for Levis entitled 'Dangerous Liaisons' which will be airing internationally soon. Ringan and Phil also teamed up on the multi-award winning 'Road to Lisbon' for 180 Amsterdam and Lynx 'Getting Dressed'. Dave Parker has recently been working with Director David McNally on a Bud spot for the Super Bowl. Dave also has a very successful working relationship with a variety of directors including Stylewar, Jim Jenkins and Craig Gillespie.
The Mill LA's 3D department will also be a combination of talent from The Mill and local hires. Currently included in the 3D line-up is senior CG artist Robert Kolbeins from the London office. Kolbeins has recently been working with Director Nicolai Fugslig on all his recent award winning commercials including Mercedes 'Clouds', Land Rover 'Go Beyond' and Sony Bravia 'Balls'. Additionally, Kolbeins worked with Daniel Kleinman on a Transport forLondon campaign, Alex Rutherford on Play Station 'Icon' and most recently with Pliex on 'Paint'.
Also hailing from Mill London is senior CG artist Chris Rabbet, whose credits include H5's Citroen 'Ice Skater', Zacharias's 'Honda Impossible Dream' and Lynn Fox's Guinness 'Penguins'. Other CG crew will be joining in the next few weeks from both The Mill London and from other LA shops.
The LA office is currently working on jobs for Dante Ariola from MJZ, and Brian Beletic and Ben Morr of Smuggler.
