Colour Perfection For Flynn by Rushes Post Production

From the album 'The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager' Sam Duckworth’s track is something of a revelation.
Combining drum and bass beats and folk rock, 'War of the Worlds' is a groundbreaking piece, which needed something suitably strange and ambiguous as a visual accompaniment.
Sam Brown, director, has provided a beautiful video - a summation of a video shoot. Sam Duckworth, or 'Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly' enters the studio which is being prepared for the shoot. A track across the floor reveals variously coloured lighting tubes and the construct of a massive rig from which further coloured tubes hang. As the song reaches a crescendo, the tubes, like a spectrum of stalactites, explode emitting beautiful colours from each. Sam covers this dazzling scene from a number of angles and teases us with different speeds of explosion.
Simone Grattarola, who telecined the video at Rushes said: "Sam’s idea was a colourist’s dream – I loved working on this job. There were so many colours and they were all to be muted and accentuated to varying degrees. Using secondary keying techniques as well as the multiple channel correction on the da vinci 2k allowed us to separate the colours out and work with each colour independently. This helped Sam to achieve greater continuity where needed and separation when colours became too similar. The great thing about working on this was that it shows how a subtle change to a colour can have as much impact on the video itself as a massive enhancement might."
