J13 Broadcast On Air With Custom Consoles Module-R Desks

J13 Broadcast has commissioned two Custom Consoles Module-R desks as part of a major expansion at its production and transmission studios in Milton Keynes.
One of Britain's most innovative independent production and playout companies, J13 provides a wide range of television origination and transmission services delivered via Astra and Eurobird satellites.
J13 Broadcast founder and senior engineer Kieth Goodyer commented: "The Module-R design enabled us to select furniture exactly matching our requirements without incurring the cost of custom-building. Custom Consoles has supplied a seven-bay desk for our new Playout Control suite. The desk has a 19 inch rack bay at each end to accommodate auxiliary equipment. Four PC displays mounted on Ergotron arms are used for system monitoring and the desk's three central positions hold routing, picture monitoring and text-equipment. The appearance and build quality are excellent, including easy front and rear access to cables and equipment.
"Our second Module-R desk is a three-bay version configured to allow two live studios, Studios Two and Three, to be controlled simultaneously by a single operator. Left and right bays are each equipped with eight picture monitors, the centre bay housing the main programme monitor and its source selector. Free-standing vision mixer panels are located on the desk worksurface left and right of the operator. An assignable remote camera controller is positioned in the centre together with a compact audio mixer. The desk is very well thought-out with plenty of cooling and, again, easy access."
Custom Consoles Module-R technical control desks can be tailored to individual requirements from a range of high-quality desk pods, base sections, worktops, rear tops, end-panel modules and forward-angled silver-painted steel legs. Desk pods are available as single, dual and triple-bay sections with a choice of 3U, 6U or 8U chassis capacity. Cabinet construction is in high-quality grey-finished MDF with hard-wearing Linoleum worksurfaces. Cable management ducts are integrated into alll desk sections. Assembly is very straightforward though a fitting service is available if required. Delivery is normally within 15 working days.
