Bridging The Gap 4 Re-Launched UK-Wide

The Scottish Documentary Institute’s new call for proposals on the theme of 'White' will be open to all UK-based filmmakers.
Bridging the Gap is understood to be the only documentary talent initiative for cinema in the UK offering training linked to production.
Whether personal, political, religious, historical or contemporary – inspirational and challenging stories reflecting UK diversity and told in an imaginative way are wanted for the big screen.
In all 12 proposals will be selected for a development period and the filmmakers will attend a series of training workshops and documentary masterclasses based in Edinburgh.
Seven 10-minute digital documentaries will be commissioned at a pitching session with a budget of 16K (includes in-kind production support) intended for distribution in cinemas and international festivals.
Send your idea and become part of the freshest new documentary talent showcase. Download the application and guidelines from the website:

Other production and training initiatives directed at new filmmakers include AfricaDoc and Constructing Reality. The Scottish Documentary Institute was set up in 2004 with a major grant from the Edinburgh College of Art.
