INDUSTRY TRAINING IN SCOTLAND

SCOTTISH Executive sponsored film agency, Scottish Screen, began a series of training seminars at the 54th Edinburgh International Film Festival this week.
Running from August 18 to 27, the seminars are open to all, whether professionals from the industry or interested amateurs, and cover a wide range of subjects. Highlights include: ‘When The Going Gets Tough The Tough Get Training,’ a discussion on training provision for newcomers and established practitioners in the industry, and on Wednesday 21 ‘Script To Screen: Finance And Production,’ a session looking at how films can be financed (public/private/banks etc) and where the money is allocated. The series also includes several case studies of recently successful British films.
Scottish Screen is running the seminars as part of its remit to develop a world class production business in Scotland, and also offers short courses, a New Entrants Training Scheme and Training bursaries to help fund attendance for established professionals.
