Major TSL tally system installed and operational in France

Television Systems Limited (TSL) have announced that French systems integrator, Preview GM System, have installed a major tally system for broadcast company VCF (Video Communication France).
The contract, secured earlier this year, was for a complete tally system for one of the largest OB trucks in Europe. The 30-camera truck, equipped with 24 VTRs, has been designed with major sporting occasions in mind and has already covered its first event.
One of the key reasons for selecting TSL's technology was because of the system's inherent intelligence combined with its ability to integrate with Grass Valley Group's Encore equipment. Design decisions were taken by Preview GM System in conjunction with VCF, according to Herminio Gaspar, technical manager with Preview.
"The main issue with the project was the time factor involved. We had to complete this project quickly and accurately. Our company is known for its ability to complete projects to tight deadlines and we were very happy with the service that TSL provided. We worked closely together with its engineers and that required good ongoing communication," explained Gaspar.
The large size of the truck is based around the need to be able to cover the Monaco Grand Prix where there is only room for one big truck because of the proximity of the track to the sea. One truck has to be able to cover the whole event, which requires at least 28 cameras.
