China Central TV orders Dayang D3-CG-HD character generators

China Central Television, one of the world's largest broadcasters, has ordered five Dayang D3-CG-HD graphics and title production systems for installation at its new HD production studio in Beijing.
They were chosen following careful evaluation of the available equipment. Karlton Burn, Dayang International CEO explains the background: "CCTV is pioneering the introduction of HD broadcasting in China. It is currently transmitting two hours of 1080i test transmissions each day and, on January 1, will commence the country's first regular HD broadcast service. The D3-CG-DH was selected because it can provide high-quality HD output efficiently and reliably while at the same time supporting the ongoing need for SD production. Format duality is likely to be a crucial factor for many production companies and broadcasters in the years to come."
Based on Dayang's established D3-CG dual-channel SD character generator, the D3-CG-HD offers exceptionally high quality anti-aliasing plus the precision and real-time capability broadcasters need for HD programme creation, editing and delivery. It provides all the tools required to create 16:9 HD graphics, titles and animation, including real-time letter-by-letter motion-path manipulation, 3D titling and true object-based timeline control for infinite-layer editing.
Operating on an open PC platform, the D3-CG-HD delivers 1080i-native multilayer graphics at 50/50.95/60 field/s or 1080p at 23.967/24/25/29.97/30 frame/s. Preconfigured templates allow fast text editing and delivery. Weather forecasts can be created automatically from title templates, including electronic data code and individual transition/display effects for each object. Financial and stock reports can be generated from real-time imported stock exchange data. Database-oriented template control of sports broadcasts is also provided, delivering information on specific teams and players as well as scores and statistics, with real-time updating.
Dual channel configuration with preview/programme output enables preview of next delivery event, including individual control of each channel. All major written languages are supported as well as many minority scripts. Video inputs are SMPTE 292M and 8 bit/10 bit HD-SDI. Output is SMPTE 292M HD-SDI with key.
