THE MACHINE ROOM EXTENDS TELECINE CAPABILITIES

FINELINE Media Finance, broadcast finance specialists, have provided the ‘lease line’ for The Machine Room, a wholly owned subsidiary of VTR, to buy the UK’s first Philips Shadow Telecine.

Over the last few years, The Machine Room have invested in specialist equipment used for a diverse selection of projects. An on-going campaign has involved re-mastering old footage, either black and white or colour for the Olympic Commission, to re-purposing and sell on to third parties.
Peter Samengo-Turner, Finance Director of VTR, said: “Our industry has to be resourceful and creative in how they use technology and this is the driving force behind our business. The Shadow represents a major investment in The Machine Room’s telecine capability. We need to be at the forefront in new equipment technology and do this effectively, we need instant access to credit lines from our finance partners.”
VTR equipment is currently being used on a large proportion of television and film work seen today. Work also comes from independent production companies and advertising agencies producing TV commercials, music videos and documentaries.
The Machine Room is one of the UK’s leading film and television post-production companies. Activities include tape duplication, DVD production, film restoration and preparation of television promotions.
Clients include the BBC, MTV Europe, the Disney Channel, The Olympic Commission and TNT Cartoon Network.
