The Machine Room appoints Ben Baker as Senior Project Coordinator

London post facility The Machine Room has appointed Ben Baker as senior project coordinator.
Baker has joined the production department at The Machine Room from Ascent Media. He will be responsible for ensuring the company meets clients’ needs for film mastering, television series and image restoration projects. His first task will be to manage the fourth series of ITV’s ‘Footballers’ Wives’ and a new BBC4 television series called ‘Brief Lives’.
Before joining The Machine Room, Baker worked at Ascent Media for 18 months where he most recently headed up the Warner Brothers entertainment account. In addition, as sound mastering scheduler he managed every audio mastering project and oversaw the expansion of Ascent’s audio services division. He also looked after the feature film ‘The Life and Death of Peter Sellers’ for HBO and has managed numerous HD and SD mastering projects for clients such as The Rainbow Network, Eel Pie and Carlton.
Prior to Ascent Media he spent three and a half years in Melbourne and Sydney managing Complete Post, a boutique visual effects house. Here, he produced feature films such as ‘Moulin Rouge’ and ‘Ned Kelly’ as well as a variety of top DVDs, commercials and pop promos.
Baker said: “This is a great opportunity for me to shape a department and to further my own interest in the feature film market. The Machine Room has always been a company I’ve admired, and its ongoing investment in kit and people has underlined that it’s going places. Its unique Film Treatment Centre is a big pull, as we can give clients everything from traditional optical to the latest digital technologies. I can’t wait to get on with it.”
Neil Lane, managing director of The Machine Room, said: “We’re delighted to welcome someone with Ben’s experience into the fold. Ben is just the type of person we need to ensure The Machine Room maintains its position as one of the top film mastering and restoration companies out there.”
