BFC Berliner Film Companie Productions uses Maya software for upcoming feature film
Alias® and BFC Berliner Film Companie Productions GmbH (BFC) has announced that Maya® was selected as the core 3D technology used in the production of the upcoming 3D animated feature film ‘Happily N´Ever Afte’r, produced by John H. Williams, producer of ‘Shrek 1 and II’ and ‘Valiant’.
BFC relies on its relationship with Alias professional services for support and custom software development to rapidly prototype new features that meet its demanding and unique production requirements.
BFC maintains a 20,000 square foot production facility in the centre of Berlin, Germany, with a complete 64-bit pipeline, running Maya as its exclusive 3D tool and mental ray® 64-bit for rendering. At this location, more than 100 artists are creating over 1000 CG shots for the feature-length 3D animated movie ‘Happily N'Ever After’ - a funny, fast-paced action comedy for the whole family that reinterprets the classic Grimms' Fairy Tales, giving the well-known stories of Cinderella, Rumpelstiltskin, The Seven Dwarves and many others a hip new comic twist.
“Our decision to work with Alias has enabled us to recruit many top creative and technical professionals in the animation industry, and innovate our pipeline to be able to deliver the visual sophistication audiences are looking for,” said Rainer Soehnlein, president and CEO of BFC Berliner Film Companie Productions GmbH. “The strength of our technology pipeline allows us to build visually stunning, personable characters and memorable stories.”
Alias' custom development teams engineer new features and extensions to Alias software, assist with production pipeline integration and provide custom technology innovations. The most recent project between BFC and Alias professional services was the creation of a technology solution for ‘Happily N´Ever Afte’r. “When deciding on our 3D pipeline, it was important to us to have reliable and instant customer support and custom development services,” explains Hammes. “We are glad to have a partner like Alias, who can deliver such services when needed.”
