BFC CURRY FAVOUR ON TRADE MISSION TO INDIA
BRITISH Film Commission (BFC) representatives will be joining the Mid-Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce on a seven-day trade mission to India in a bid to strengthen their growing relationship with the Indian Film Industry.
The BFC will be accompanied by representatives from eight of the UK’s regional commissions travelling to Mumbai including the Central England Screen Commission, East Midlands Screen Commission, Mid Wales Film Commission, North Wales Film Commission, Scottish Screen, South Wales Film Commission, South West Film Commission and Yorkshire Screen Commission.
The visit will last one week in which representatives will meet with Indian filmmakers to see them at work and discuss how their processes could be customised to attract filming to the UK. With this the commissions will be able to offer production companies comprehensive assistance in using the UK as a location.
British Film Commissioner Steve Norris said: “The Indian film industry is universally known as the largest world-wide and we are proud to service their increasing desire to use Britain as a highly resourceful and effective location to make films. Britain boasts an abundance of talent and facilities to aid foreign filmmakers and we are excited by the enthusiasm Indian filmmakers have for shooting here.”
The Deputy High Commission and the British Tourist Authority Office in Mumbai will also aid the mission.
