SKY NEWS STRENGTHENS HOME NEWS TEAM

SKY News have strengthened their home news coverage with the appointment of Phil Wardman as Head of Home News.
The move follows the announcement that Michael Wilson has left the newsdesk to take up a new appointment as Special Reports Editor, heading up a new Sky News investigative unit.
Deputy News Editor, Jane Elston, will replace Wilson as News Editor and will work alongside seasoned news editors Rob Kirk and Roger Protheroe.
Head of Sky News, Nick Pollard, said: “Sky News are the market leaders in coverage of breaking news stories, both home and overseas. Phil’s appointment reflects our aim to ensure that UK viewers get full coverage of domestic news stories that touch their lives, from floods that have ravaged parts of Britain to fall out from the fuel crisis.”
Wardman has been a News Editor at Sky News for five years, having previously worked as a News Editor at Reuters and GMTV and before that as a reporter for Central TV.
Elston worked on the home and foreign desks at ITN before joining Sky News in the early nineties.
