FIRST FILM LAUNCH FIRST FEEDBACK SCHEME

FIRST Feedback, a new initiative from First Film Foundation and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation have launched a new screenwriting programme entitled ‘First Feedback’.
The programme involves a series of five intensive script development workshops over an eight-month period that will develop projects and craft skills of up to 12 writers throughout the UK. First Feedback will then showcase writers and their projects to industry professionals.
The aims and objectives of the programme include acting as an identifier and promoter of new talent to the industry and ensure that writers are selected on the basis of their talent. The programme looks to give new writers an idea of how to develop a career in the industry and equip them with some of the skills to do this.
Each workshop will take place over one day. Workshops will take place from February to September 2001, with the final dates fixed nearer to the start of the workshops.
Open to people who have demonstrated a serious commitment and talent for writing, organisers say that applications from writers who are already established in other areas (theatre and television) will be particularly welcome, although new writers are being encouraged to apply.
The selection process will take the form of a competition, with a two-tier entry fee. Entrants can chose to pay either fee depending on the level of feedback they are looking to receive. Basic cover administration costs £20 and will provide additional benefit of automatic consideration for Script Factory readings. Whereas a full professional readers report from an experienced industry professional will cost £45.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, December 8, enclosing two copies of the documents listed in the application form. There is no charge for taking part in First Feedback.
For further details visit www.firstfilm.co.uk or send a SAE envelope and an A4 envelope to First Film Foundation, 9 Bourlet Close, London W1P 7PJ.
