Important new opportunity for producers, writers and directors in Wales announced
Sgrin and the Arts Council of Wales, in association with Film Four and S4C, are launching WELSH MICROS/MICROS CYMREIG, a new scheme which will support the production of micro-budget feature films in Wales.
Using Lottery funds, and working in partnership with Film Four and S4C, the organisers are aiming to commission two micro-budget feature films, to be made in Wales over the coming year, with budgets of not more than £400,000 per film. One of the films will be in Welsh and the other in English. This scheme challenges Welsh filmmakers to come up with distinctive, contemporary projects which are both compelling and viable enough for the partners to greenlight production finance. It is intended that the films will be fully financed by the partners and that producers will not be required to seek additional finance.
WELSH MICROS/MICROS CYMREIG will be open for application from June 17 2004, with a closing date of July 23 2004. The scheme will prioritise Welsh production companies and projects where there is substantial Welsh involvement (writer, director, producer etc).
Further information is available from www.sgrin.co.uk.
