PETERPIX COMPLETE ‘GOBSMACKED!’ ROAD MOVIE

LANCASHIRE-BASED indie filmmakers PeterPix Productions in conjunction with The English Players have recently completed their first film. Entitled 'Gobsmacked!' the £1.5 million road movie film described as an “unashamedly English family comedy made for the international market” has so far received strong distribution interest from Japan, the UK and the US and requests to screen at Korean and Chinese film festivals.
The head of PeterPix, Peter Tong, said: “It’s simplest of stories, an old bus driven by a bossy feminist driver (who hates her job) breaks down on a deserted English country road with nine irate passengers desperate to get to town. But by the time a rescue bus arrives they have all resolved their differences, become friends and lovers, a bit of fantasy has happened, and a baby has been born.”
‘Gobsmacked!’ is directed by theatre director Gabriel Kern and photographed by Daniel Whistler, previously known largely for his documentary work.
The whole concept from screenplay to screen, comes from the fertile mind of 40-year-old writer Peter Tong who says he has now found his true vocation as a film-maker, and he is loving every minute of it: “I'm a control freak of the nicest kind, who just wants his creations to be appreciated by the whole world. Not too much to ask of an artist, is it?'
The English Film Players are formed from established actors and new talent to work exclusively with PeterPix Productions. From low-profile professionals to Hollywood A-list. “And they don't have to be English;” quips Tong.
The soundtrack is a mix of styles composed by Merseyside's Don Woods and performed by various bands and artists. It features the love song, ‘Somethin' So Right’, sung by newcomers Jessie Morgan and Jack Aldam, written by Benny Gallagher and Christian Marsac.
