WELSH FILM FESTIVAL FEATURES TALENTED SIX

News Image
THE TALENTS of the Welsh film industry and Welsh filmmakers have never been so prominent as those in this year’s International Film Festival of Wales.
This year the festival has six new features from Wales from some of their most talented directors in the nation.
Karl Francis stumbled across the idea for his latest film ‘One of The Hollywood Ten’ (pictured) by chance as he browsed through the Academy Library in Los Angeles.
John Paul Macleod was chosen from hundreds of young hopefuls to play twelve year old Taliesin Jones in ‘The Testimony of Taliesin Jones’. This is a touching family film which explores the anxieties a young boy faces as he grows up through his encounter with a faith-healer.
Emlyn Williams film ‘Oed Yr Addewid’ explores the anxiety of the family of an elderly man who is beginning to behave strangely.
New technology and techniques are utilised by Euros Lyn in his adaptation of Owain Meredith’s novel ‘Diwrnod Hollol Mindblowing Heddiw’. The film is improvised amidst an unsuspecting public about a young man discovering himself and his country.
Lesley Manning’s film, ‘P.O.V’ takes doco-soap to the big screen in his film about the everyday life of urban folk as viewed through the supermarket.
John Cales has also returned to Wales to work with nine bands over nine days. Catatonia, James Dean Bradfield, Super Furry Animals, Gorkys Zygotic Mynci are among some of the musical talents on display. The documentary accompanying the film gives a father insight into the artistic collaborations.
