CHYRON LAUNCH TWO NEW DIVISIONS

CHYRON Corporation, providers of broadcast graphics and media casting services, have launched two new divisions to deliver their expertise to the emerging interactive television and web-casting sectors. The new divisions are Chyron Streaming Services and Chyron Interactive.
Chyron Streaming Services will provide a complete solution to allow any organisation to manage the broadcast of video or audio through the web. Chyron Interactive will use broadcast graphics to develop the products necessary to construct the user interface to drive interactive TV.
Chyron’s CEO, Roger Henderson, said: “We are on the verge in broadcasting and two of the key drivers of that revolution are interactive TV and video delivery through the web. We have years of experience relevant to both these areas and therefore the logic of developing two specialist divisions to address the opportunities was compelling.”
The Streaming Services division employs 30 people in the UK with an operations centre in Slough for encoding, streaming and video archiving and a data centre in Docklands with high speed internet links, streaming links and high capacity video servers. In the new year they will be opening a central London office with a demonstration suite, internet studio and editing suite.
The Interactive Division was created to provide hardware and software tools and products. The Division will work with content producers to design and produce the on-screen graphics needed to allow viewers to control interactive TV.
Chyron works with 80 per cent of all television stations and networks in North America and much of Europe. Their interactive tools will also allow clients to ‘re-purpose’ existing television graphic assets. This will mean that all of Chyron’s existing clients will be able to develop interactive content with minimal additional cost using existing personnel.
