‘GENTLEMEN’S RELISH’ POSTS AT RUSHES
RUSHES, one of Europe’s leading special effects and post-production houses, have completed several shots for the film, ‘Gentlemen’s Relish’, to be aired on New Year’s Day on BBC 1.
The shots involved the construction a dirigible balloon with Maya software and inserting the Houses of Parliament into a background shot using Flame.
Dave Child, Rushes 3D Operator, said: “One of the reasons for using 3D, is to place objects in a film which are difficult to shoot with a camera. As there are only three balloons of this type in Europe, Principal Pictures asked us to create one. They gave us a picture for reference and a story outline to work from. We then created virtual actors, a balloon and an unattached basket, made the balloon look like it was made of gold silk and got the lighting just right for the environment.”
