Sonifex Managing Director to run for charity

The Managing Director of Sonifex Ltd, Marcu Brooke, is to take part in the Great North Run and Great South Run for a charity which is particularly special to him.
Brooke commented: "I'm running to raise money for a new Children's Hospital which is being built near the grounds of the John Radcliffe Hospital (JR) in Oxford, UK. My daughter Georgia had open-heart surgery at the JR and unfortunately, during her recovery from the operation, she had a stroke which left her paralysed on the left side. She's made a miraculous and almost total recovery, a lot of which can be attributed to the fantastic care which she received at JR."
He added: "Georgia was admitted to the main hospital because there is no children's hospital in Oxford currently. However, the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign are building a new children's hospital near JR and need charitable funds to build it."
The new hospital will be a purpose built centre of excellence for children's services bringing local paediatric care facilities together under one roof. Half of the project is being built entirely from charitable donations and so far, they have raised £7.7 million pounds. They need £15 million to complete the project in Jan 2007.
The Great North Run is a half marathon in Newcastle on the Sept 18th, 2005 and the Great South Run is a 10-mile run in Portsmouth on the Oct 9th, 2005.
Brooke added: "Some people might not regard these as long distances, but for someone who hadn't run more then four miles before starting this training, it is quite a challenge! Also, both the runs are shortly after IBC so I'm looking forward to some of the comments I'll receive at the show. Plus, I'll have to take it easy on the alcohol at the exhibition - a sober IBC will make a change!"
Donations may be made by visiting www.justgiving.com/marcusbrooke. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure - the Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign receives donations directly and in the case of UK taxpayers an extra 28% in tax will be added to the sum donated.
Alternatively, cheques made out to the "Oxford Children's Hospital Campaign" may be sent, marked "OCHC" to Sonifex Ltd Sonifex Ltd., 61 Station Road, Irthlingborough, Northamptonshire, NN9 5QE.
