Megahertz & Studiotech create a new DSNG vehicle for HIR-TV

Megahertz Broadcast Systems, in conjunction with Hungarian broadcast contractor Studiotech, recently completed a new DSNG vehicle for Hir TV, Hungary’s only dedicated news channel.
Hir TV began satellite broadcasting in 2003 and has become increasingly popular thanks to its comprehensive news coverage. The contract for the DSNG vehicle went out to tender during 2005 and was won by Studiotech, which in 2003 was responsible for installing Hir TV’s server-based broadcast studios – the first of their type in Hungary.
George Oravecz, Director and Co-owner of Studiotech, said: “This is Hir TV’s first DSNG vehicle and is a major investment for the broadcaster. It will primarily be used for newsgathering and short live productions. We invited Megahertz to partner us because the company has such a strong global reputation and so many years experience in designing and installing vehicles of this type.”
Based on a short wheel base four-wheel drive Mercedes Sprinter chassis, the DSNG vehicle is equipped with a Swe-dish 1.5m Drive-Away antenna fitted with a 200W High Power Amplifier for the RF system. Inside, the vehicle is equipped with a wireless camera, Leitch routing and glue and a 16 channel Mackie Onyx audio mixer. It is powered by a built-in 8kVA diesel generator.
The first part of the installation was carried out by Megahertz and involved coachbuilding the vehicle to accept three equipment bays, an air conditioning unit, three phase isolation transformers and a generator. Megahertz also installed an operator’s bench seat and shaped script desk, which has the audio desk set into it. The interior has also been skinned, carpeted and floored and the vehicle has had power and alarm systems installed. Megahertz was also responsible for fitting and testing the Ku band antenna and RF system.
The vehicle has now been delivered to Studiotech’s workshops in Hungary where the remaining equipment installation is being carried out.
