AKM launches low-cost 192kHz audio A/D converter

AKM a leading supplier of audio ICs for professional and consumer markets, has introduced the AK5359, a low-cost, high quality audio A/D converter for audio/visual applications in pro and consumer equipment and cars.
The 24-bit, 192kHz, 2-channel ADC is ideal for DVD recorders, A/V receivers, pro-audio equipment, musical instrument applications as well as vehicles of all kinds. The pin-compatibility with the current ADC’s, AK5357 and AK5381 makes it the perfect choice for applications that require the most cost-effective solution.
The AK5359 uses AKM’s proprietary dual-bit delta-sigma techniques. An integrated high-pass filter is used to eliminate DC offset. The chip requires no external components because all inputs are single-ended.
The AK5359 operates in both master and slave modes and has two audio formats - left justified and I2S. With 102dB dynamic range and 96dB THD+N, the AK5359 is ideally suited to consumer audio applications. The AK5359 uses a 5-volt analogue supply and a
2.7 to 5.5-volt digital supply, making it compatible with industry standard digital signal processors (DSPs).
The AK5359 comes in two versions, each designed for operating within a specific temperature range. For consumer applications, the AK5359ET has a temperature range of –20 to 85°C, while the AK5359VT, designed for use in vehicles, supports wider temperature range of -40 to 85°C.
Both AK5359ET and AK5359VT are available in small 16-pin TSSOP packages.
