Violet Audio Launches DX16B Audio Splitter

Violet Audio US has introduced the DX16B 16-channel passive audio splitter and io44 four-channel XLR-to-Ethercon adapter, a new analogue audio transport system designed to simplify signal distribution across live sound, broadcast, installed AV and recording environments.

The system enables engineers to transport balanced microphone and line-level audio over standard shielded Cat5e or Cat6 cable, reducing cable requirements, installation costs and setup time while maintaining professional audio performance.

Designed around Violet Audio's Pure Path passive architecture, the DX16B and io44 operate without power supplies, digital conversion or active signal processing. The passive design allows the system to preserve the original microphone signal while providing flexible routing between consoles, recording systems and broadcast feeds.

The DX16B accepts microphone inputs and distributes them simultaneously through front- and rear-panel XLR connectors, dual DB25 connectors and four Ethercon ports. The io44 provides four channels of balanced audio transport over a single Cat5e or Cat6 cable, using either female or male XLR connections.

The two products form a complete passive audio transport solution, allowing professional analogue audio to be moved bidirectionally through existing structured cabling infrastructure without external power. The io44 is designed for applications where audio needs to travel through conduit, walls or across large venues using readily available network cabling.

The DX16B provides simultaneous microphone signal distribution for front-of-house, monitor, broadcast and recording systems, with XLR, Ethercon and DB25 connectivity. Its passive operation is designed to maintain signal integrity while offering an alternative to traditional analogue snakes and powered distribution systems.

Together, the DX16B and io44 provide a scalable analogue infrastructure capable of carrying four balanced audio channels over a single shielded Cat5e or Cat6 cable. By replacing bulky multicore analogue snakes with standard Ethernet cabling, the system can help reduce stage clutter, simplify installations and accelerate deployment for both temporary productions and permanent facilities.

The products feature locking XLR and Ethercon connectors for reliability in demanding environments, while the DX16B’s daisy-chain capability allows systems to expand as production requirements increase.
