RTÉ plans OB coverage of the start of the Tall Ships Race in Waterford

Irish state broadcaster RTÉ is planning extensive Outside Broadcast coverage of the Tall Ships Race in July.
Waterford has the unique honour of being the first Irish city to host the start of a Tall Ships Race and on Wednesday, July 6 the city is expecting the arrival of 90 ships crewed by over 3,000 sailors and trainees.
RTÉ coverage of the event will include special radio and television broadcasts and news bulletins throughout the four-day event which culminates on Saturday July 9 with a Parade of Sail from the port led by three Irish ships - the Asgard II, the Jeannie Johnston and the Dunbrody.
'Nationwide', presented by Michael Ryan, on RTÉ One at 7.00pm in an hour-long special will show the arrival of the ships and include reports from the national sail training vessel, Asgard and aboard the UK ship Tenacious, that provides sailing for disabled people.
There will be also be a look at the maritime history of Waterford and other stories, including music and chat with trainees from the ships.
On Saturday, July 9, when the Tall Ships stage a Parade of Sail down the Waterford Estuary to the start line for the "race" which ends in Cherbourg, RTÉ News will broadcast a half-hour special covering the parade at 5.30 pm on RTÉ One.
