ATG Broadcast introduces enhanced SAM-E audio monitoring units

ATG Broadcast is extending the versatility of its SAM-E series of audio monitoring units.
A new SDI-audio extractor option gives pushbutton front panel access to each of the eight audio channel pairs. Formerly, the operator had to select via DIP-switches which of the four AES audio groups was to be monitored. Being quicker and easier to use, the audio extractor option makes the SAM-E range ideal for multi-channel or multi-language applications.
Designed for desktop or rack-based installation, the SAM-E series has eight stereo inputs, digital carrier auto-sensing and amplified stereo outputs. Three versions are available to suit applications in studio control rooms, edit suites, technical areas and mobile production vehicles.
SAM-E-2 is a 2U rack-mountable system with dual peak-programme meters, integral confidence loudspeakers and full front-panel control. SAM-E-1 is a 1U variant of SAM-E-2 for use with in-vision audio level displays and external loudspeakers. SAM-E-Pod is a free-standing desktop remote controller linked via Cat-5 cable to a rack-mountable 1U-high interface chassis. Designed for maximum ergonomic efficiency, the remote pod has a sloping panel which can be placed close to hand on a control desk or workstation, eliminating the need to reach across other equipment. Back-lit potentiometers give immediate control of loudspeaker and headphone volume. The pod is a compact 177 wide by 117 mm deep; its control panel slopes in height from 17 mm at front to 55 mm.
Operational facilities on all three models include button-per-channel selection of up to eight stereo analogue, AES or SDI-embedded digital sources. LED status displays indicate digital audio sampling rate (32, 44.1, 48 or 96 kHz), carrier presence and carrier-lock. Additional buttons enable phase reversal, audio monitor mute, dim, left/right monitor selection and left/right source cut. Signal level display can be switched from left/right to mid/side mode with +20 dB gain selectable on the side channel. Serial protocol connections are integral to the SAM-E system, allowing easy operation via local or networked broadcast automation.
