Norkring Broadcast Network Complete Oslo National Control Centre Monitoring System

Danmon Systems Group has completed of a six-desk turnkey system for the Norkring Broadcast Network throughout Norway.
The Oslo National Control Centre project included design, planning, installation, systems integration, test, documentation and training for a staff of 20 located at the Telenor World Head-quarters in Fornebu.
The desks are custom-designed motorised three-tier units built by UK-based Custom Consoles.
The image display is fed by a Miranda Kaleido-X multiviewer delivering SD-SDI and HD-SDI images to six 46 inch and two 55 inch NEC panels. Digital and analog audio are monitored via seven Sonifex distribution amplifiers connected to Genelec loudspeakers.
Other infrastructure includes an intercom system, Opticis DVI fibre extenders and Blackmagic DVI-to-SDI converters. The new facility replaces an older control centre which was located at the base of the Tryvannstårnet tower outside Oslo.
Danmon Systems Group has also completed engineering and installation services for Teracom supporting the installation of two new MPEG4 multiplexer systems, MUX1 and MUX3. These will form an integral part of the Danish broadcast transmission network. Main components are Net Insight fibre-optic video interfaces, Snell video routers plus Harmonic data switchers, encoders and decoders. The project expanded on Danmon’s original 2009 installation of the MUX1 system. It adds a new HD channel: DR1-HD. Work involved included wiring DVB-T encoders, decoders, multiplexers and monitoring equipment in the Teracom head-end control centre at Taastrup near Copenhagen.
Teracom is responsible for the digital DVB-T distribution of television, radio and DAB Radio across the entire Danish mainland. The new MUX3 system provides additional HD channels to Denmark, including DR1-HD and TV2-HD. Teracom's terrestrial transmission network consists of 35 antenna masts located in nine regions across Denmark and Bornholm, transmitting to a potential audience of nearly 5.5 million people. The network and antennas were updated in 2006 and 2009 to include digital radio (DAB) and digital TV (DVB-T MPEG-2).
