eeZee tv goes to air with Eyeheight playout

A new satellite-based and point-of sale shopping channel, eeZee tv went to air on Tuesday March 1 using Eyeheight's playout master control system.
A joint venture between John Mills Ltd and Kleeneze, eeZee tv is broadcasting on Sky Digital 659 from a five-camera studio and transmission suite at the JML headquarters in London's Kentish Town.
Project design and installation were co-ordinated by Leeds-based E to E Ltd. Chris Warden E to E's Engineering Manager, explained the reasons for deciding on Eyeheight's playout: "eeZee tv's output will be almost entirely live so full backup protection of all crucial components in the transmission chain is obviously important. Eyeheight's playout incorporates a vision mixer and independent signal router. In addition to its role as a presentation switcher, playout can be double in an emergence as the main studio mixer and transmission-path router. This high level of flexibility made playout the obvious choice for this application."
Eyeheight's playout master control system comprises a 1U base processor and six core units: mix/wipe module, keyer, audio/voice-overmodule, internal cross-point, logo-store and DVE. These can be configured as an automated A/B mixer or scaled up to a complete multi-channel master control system with manual over-ride.
Up to three independent channels with individual key, fill and background inputs plus dedicated preview output can be housed in a single chassis. The keyers can be operated independently or as a group from a TK-10 control panel. The mix/wipe module provides a variety of transition effects with user-preset edge characteristics, audio-follows-video, audio only, video only, audio lead and audio lag. Transitions can be performed via manual T-bar, timed with manual activation, or fully automated.
