DISCOVERY OF NEW SOUNDS AT ELSTREE

ONE OF the largest online sound libraries in the world, www.sound-effects-library.com, has acquired a collection of Cinesound Sound Effects discovered in the vaults of Elstree Film Studios in Hertfordshire.
The extraordinary collection, only recently discovered, contains nearly four million unique sounds. The library spans decades of motion picture and world history, including sound effects from every James Bond film made to date, ‘Zulu’, ‘Battle of Britain’ and many other cinema classics.
Some of the unearthed collection’s most important original sounds include the harrowing recording of the World War II bombing of Portsmouth harbour, Sir Winston Churchill’s State Funeral and a rare recording from the Bismarck.
According to Managing Director of www.sound-effects-library.com Lloyd Billing, the recordings were to be found “in pristine condition”.
Billing says: “This collection is truly unique, it has been recorded by the world’s greatest sound recordists, it contains sounds that no other library could possibly achieve, like huge 1000 plus crowd scenes from the movie Cromwell and multiple Spitfires passing dangerously close overhead.”
