Telecast transceivers provide flexible broadcast backbone for KOMU-TV

KOMU-TV8, an NBC affiliate owned by the University of Missouri, has purchased Telecast's CopperHead, DiamondBack, and Adder video and audio transceivers to build a new campus-wide broadcast system for covering the university's news and sports events.
At the core of the new system, Telecast's technologies enable the university to take advantage of its existing fibre infrastructure to feed high-quality broadcast signals to and from Memorial Stadium and other locations on its campus.
KOMU-TV8 sought a solution flexible enough to handle a wide range of applications on the 12-mile strand of single-mode fibre already installed at the university. The broadcast system needed to be portable enough to send multiple camera signals from various venues around campus -- including the football stadium and new Mizzou Arena -- back to the studio for production. The studio needed to be able to broadcast its processed signals not only to local viewers, but also back to the portable system, which relays instant replays, locally originated weather forecasts, and sports updates to the giant 'TigerVision' screens and other closed-captioned monitors in the stadium or arena.
