Skaramoosh RI:SE to title challenge

Skaramoosh have completed new title sequence and idents for RI:SE, Channel 4’s breakfast show produced by Princess Productions and Sky.
The sequence was directed by Benjamin Caron and design directed by Skaramoosh's Nicky Thompson. Shot on location around London, the sequence highlights the colon within the programme’s title, which is represented in a variety of ways, such as focusing on two ice cubes in a drink, two tiles in a swimming pool or two windows in a building.
In order to achieve clean, crisp images, the sequence was shot by Ben Frewin on HDCAM using the new Sony HDW-750P camera. The Sony HDW-750P destroyed any outdated notions about high definition as a bulky, inflexible, prohibitively expensive choice. It delivered levels of detail, colour depth and contrast that might be associated with Super16 or even 35mm film.
By shooting 25 frames per second in progressive scan mode (25P), the shots shared a 'filmic' motion that added richness to the titles/idents.
The offline was completed on Media Composer, then DS artist John Cryer used Skaramoosh's Avid|DS HD to do extensive grading and finishing on the project.
The new titles will air from Monday 20 January 2003.
