Gravity Media Powers Live Vertical Experience For Meta Connect 2026
Meta asked Gravity Media to boost engagement among mobile-first viewers for Meta Connect 2026, tasking the company’s Creative and Managed Services teams with going beyond a simple reformat of the main broadcast feed.
The brief was to build a dedicated vertical experience that felt native to social platforms while preserving the reliability, quality and production values expected from a flagship technology event.
Working to a tight schedule, Gravity Media implemented a fully synchronised 9:16 live broadcast workflow, turning the traditional show coverage into a bespoke vertical-first output for digital audiences.
Live events are typically produced in landscape. With more viewers now watching on smartphones via portrait-oriented platforms, creating a premium vertical stream required far more than cropping an existing programme feed. The approach needed to safeguard picture quality, graphics fidelity and audio synchronisation across the chain.
Teams in the UK and USA collaborated on a specialist vertical workflow designed for live digital distribution. The incoming 16:9 programme was converted into a full-resolution 1080 × 1920 portrait feed, optimised specifically for vertical viewing.
Custom graphics were designed and integrated for the new aspect ratio, while precise audio synchronisation workflows kept sound and vision aligned through every stage of conversion.
The result was a fully managed, broadcast-grade vertical output that complemented the primary production while delivering a tailored experience for mobile audiences.
Crucially, Gravity Media produced a real-time, broadcast-standard vertical feed rather than editing highlights after the event. The workflow combined specialist signal processing, graphics integration, advanced image framing and synchronised audio delivery, enabling native viewing on vertical platforms without compromising production quality.
The project demonstrated how established broadcast infrastructure can be adapted for modern consumption habits, opening up new ways to grow reach and interaction.
According to Gravity Media, the dedicated vertical feed outperformed traditional landscape coverage across key metrics including live views, engagement and impressions. The results underline the value of designing content specifically for the platforms where audiences are most active.
Beyond the figures, the delivery showcased a blend of creative thinking, technical depth and operational execution under pressure across a large-scale, high-profile production.
As live audiences continue to shift towards mobile-first habits, platform-native workflows are becoming core to event strategies. Meta Connect 2026 highlights how broadcast engineering, creative innovation and digital-first planning can boost engagement while upholding production standards.
For Gravity Media, the project further bridges the gap between traditional broadcasting and the future of live digital content.
