CBC/Radio-Canada Chooses Dalet
Dalet has been selected by Canadian public broadcaster CBC/Radio-Canada to modernise its news operations across the country, introducing a new digital platform designed to improve content production, collaboration and distribution.
The media technology and services provider will deploy its Dalet Pyramid platform across the organisation, transforming how news is created and delivered across television, radio, digital and streaming services.
CBC/Radio-Canada has served Canadians for almost 90 years, providing news, information and entertainment while supporting Canadian culture and democratic life.
The broadcaster operates 27 television stations and 88 radio stations with local news bulletins, alongside its CBC News and Radio-Canada Info apps. Its wider digital portfolio includes CBC Listen, Radio-Canada OHdio, CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, as well as free streaming channels, websites and social media platforms including YouTube, Spotify and TikTok.
Its journalism reaches audiences in English, French and eight Indigenous languages, with a focus on delivering relevant, locally produced news across multiple platforms.
Dalet Pyramid will provide the foundation for the broadcaster's future newsroom, supporting the production and distribution of content ranging from local stories to breaking international news.
The platform's story-centric approach is designed to help journalists manage content more efficiently and deliver material tailored to audiences' interests and preferred platforms.
By consolidating workflows, the system aims to address the challenges associated with outdated tools and fragmented production processes, which can limit access to field content and require staff to switch between multiple systems to complete tasks.
The web-based platform will allow CBC/Radio-Canada staff to access content and collaborate from locations across Canada, including while working in the field.
The deployment will give staff improved visibility of content, story planning, collaboration and distribution, with thousands of users able to work simultaneously within the same platform, regardless of their location or department.
The system will incorporate Dalet Brio for capturing and ingesting media into the content repository, alongside Dalet Cut, the company's multimedia editing tool for video and audio.
Content and stories will be made available across the broadcaster's network, helping teams share resources and coordinate production more effectively.
The centralised approach is intended to support collaboration between local newsrooms, enabling journalists and production teams to create and distribute content using shared assets and resources.
The agreement marks a further step in CBC/Radio-Canada's digital transformation, with the new platform intended to support more flexible production workflows and the delivery of news across an increasingly diverse range of channels.
For Dalet, the project builds on its work providing technology and services to media organisations seeking to modernise their operations, improve workflow efficiency and adapt to changing audience expectations.
The deployment is expected to provide CBC/Radio-Canada with a more integrated production environment, supporting its national network while helping local teams deliver news to audiences across Canada.
