CEI Secures AS9100 Certification

Custom Electronics, Inc. (CEI), a long-established producer of mica paper capacitors and custom high-voltage assemblies, has earned AS9100 certification for its battery operation, strengthening its quality management credentials for the aerospace and defence sectors.

CEI plans to spotlight the achievement at The Battery Show in Detroit, MI, from 12–15 October (Booth 2814).

The certification underpins CEI’s Power & Energy Solutions Division, which delivers application-specific battery systems designed around each project’s electrical, mechanical and environmental needs. Its portfolio spans pouch-cell solutions as well as 14250 and 18650 batteries and battery packs, giving aerospace and military users a range of options for purpose-built power.

CEI’s AS9100/ISO 9001 Quality System covers its manufacturing processes end to end, with controls from incoming materials through production and final inspection. This framework complements the company’s long experience in aerospace and military manufacturing, where CEI has supplied specialised electronic components and assemblies for demanding use cases. Multiple cell formats allow engineers to configure solutions to the application rather than rely on a single standard design.

For applications needing compact cylindrical cells and configurable pack architectures, CEI’s 18650 batteries and battery packs offer a versatile platform. The company can tailor solutions to customer-defined electrical and mechanical parameters, supporting everything from individual cell builds to fully integrated packs.

Its 14250 batteries provide another compact cylindrical option for space-constrained electronics and equipment, enabling designers to integrate power where packaging demands are critical.

Pouch cells present a different route, with a flexible form factor that can help maximise available space within the end product. CEI integrates pouch-cell technology into custom batteries when it best fits the application’s geometry and performance requirements.
