Appear To Showcase Unified Hardware And Software
Appear will return to IBC (11–14 September, RAI Amsterdam, booth 1.C61) to demonstrate advances in live event contribution, IP transport modernisation and software-defined live production.
Enhancements across the X and VX Platforms are designed to deliver broadcast-grade performance end-to-end, from venues through to cloud environments.
Almost a year after its November 2025 IPO, the company will show how broadcasters, production companies, content owners and network operators can pair the density and performance of its X Platform hardware with the elasticity of its VX Platform software. Together, they form a single hybrid operating model spanning venues, facilities, networks and cloud.
"Since our IPO in November 2025, our momentum continues to be driven by customers trusting us with the live content that matters most," said Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, CEO, Appear. "From FOX and other international broadcasters' coverage of the FIFA World Cup to NBCUniversal's Winter Olympics operations, leading media brands rely on Appear because live just cannot fail. These relationships continue to shape our roadmap and push us to execute at the highest level as we demonstrate how our X and VX Platforms give customers the highest possible performance when every frame matters, through combining hardware power with software elasticity. Our ambition is clear: to become the first choice for live production processing worldwide."
At IBC2026, Appear will introduce solutions aligned to major industry trends in live event contribution, IP migration and software-defined production workflows.
On the hardware side, the compact half-rack X5 gains support for JPEG XS plus native Dolby AC-4 and Dolby Atmos audio, enabling ultra-low-latency contribution and immersive sound in a small form factor.
Debuting at the show, the ECx400 is a next-generation compression module for the X10 and X20 Platforms. Built to meet demand for codec agility, streamlined inventory and high performance, the card launches with JPEG XS, AVC and HEVC over IP and SDI, combining encoding and decoding on a single module. It includes native Dolby Atmos and AC-4 support for AVC and HEVC workflows. Already chosen by two major US customers, ECx400 will be previewed at IBC ahead of general availability in December 2026.
To make hybrid and cloud production more practical, Appear has progressed VX Platform software capabilities that simplify ground-to-cloud connectivity and hybrid deployment. VX Hybrid Cloud Gateway automatically discovers and imports SRT outputs from connected X Platform systems, while cloud-agnostic deployment and multi-protocol support provide greater flexibility over where and how workflows run.
Additional features include VX Cloud Distribution Hub to simultaneously distribute to any platform, Compressed Stream Processing, Hitless Redundancy and Failover, and Enterprise Security. Together, these enable customers to distribute, process and protect live streams in software while reducing reliance on dedicated hardware.
Appear will exhibit on booth 1.C61 at IBC2026, 11–14 September, RAI Amsterdam.
