DHD Releases New Firmware
dhd.audio announces that its latest generation firmware, Version 10.4, is now available to DHD customers.
Version 10.4 introduces expanded configuration capabilities and greater control of audio-over-IP across DHD’s one modular platform for broadcast audio. It is compatible with supported systems within the DHD range of DX2, RX2, SX2 and TX2 audio mixers, XC3, XD3 and XS3 IP cores, and AES67/Ravenna interfaces. These plus latest-generation options, including Control API, Routing App and AI-based audio noise reduction, will be demonstrated on DHD stand 8.B46 at the September 11th-14th 2026 International Broadcasting Convention in Amsterdam.
New features of DHD's Version 10.4 firmware include:
Flex Channels enable DHD operators to access more signals within their system. Selection is performed from a pre-assigned input source list rather than from the pool of fader channels, simplifying routing across complex installations.
Channel Categories for fader channels allow the input source list to be filtered for specific signals. Operators can perform faster navigation of large or complex audio production systems.
Mic Preamp Control allows the input gain of a remote microphone preamp to be set directly from the console touchscreen, from the Views App or from the Control API.
Audio-over-IP timing now incorporates secondary network Precision Time Protocol clocks directly into the Best Master Clock Algorithm evaluation, rather than treating them only as a fallback. This ensures more robust redundant clock synchronisation across the DHD audio system. PTP logging has moved to industry-standard Syslog protocol, simplifying log message management.
Control API for AES67/Ravenna interfaces
Control API gives easy access to AES67/Ravenna Interfaces within a DHD system. A secure license-free alternative to NMOS and Ember+, it allows full control over stream parameters, interface settings and related functions, secured via access-tokens and TLS/HTTPS.
Routing App
Routing App expands to seven the DHD series of optional apps. These include the Assist App, Discovery App, Labels App, Snapshot App, System App and Views App. Each can be activated on a license basis. Compatible with DHD XC3, XD3 and XS3 cores running firmware 10.4 or higher, the Routing App provides secure local or remote control over a processing core's entire input/output channel configuration. Individual crosspoint matrices can be created and displayed graphically as an x/y routing view or as an I/O list, offering a fast overview at any level of complexity. Matrices can be saved as presets for rapid selection and instant recall.
AI-based audio noise reduction
AI-based audio noise reduction from ai-coustics is now available on a per-instance license basis for DHD XD3 Quad Core (52-7554) devices with a maximum of three instances per device. This utility helps reduce background distractions in voice channels such as sports commentaries, or traffic noise from outdoor news reports. The technology repairs the audio signal rather than replicating voices, preserving each speaker's natural identity and timbre. Processing intensity is easily adjustable. Up to three stereo instances can operate in parallel on a single XD3 core.
