Panasonic Acquires Hive Media Control
Panasonic Projector & Display Corporation has acquired UK-based media technology company Hive Media Control Ltd., in a move aimed at strengthening its integrated visual solutions offering for immersive and professional environments.
The acquisition sees Panasonic take full ownership of Hive Media Control Ltd., which specialises in media playback and control systems used in exhibitions, museums and large-scale immersive installations.
Panasonic said the deal supports its strategy to evolve beyond a hardware-focused business model by combining projection, LED and display technologies with advanced media control and playback solutions.
Hive Media Control Ltd. has built a reputation within the immersive experiences sector through projects including the BBC Earth Experience, the National Museum of Qatar and the Michelangelo’s Sistine Chapel exhibition.
The company's platform is designed around a compact and scalable architecture that supports complex visual deployments while maintaining an open, vendor-neutral ecosystem. Its SDM-based design enables integration across a wide range of visual technologies and installation environments.
Panasonic said integrating Hive's capabilities with its own display and projection portfolio would provide customers with greater flexibility while simplifying deployment and operation.
The combined offering is expected to reduce infrastructure requirements, minimise the need for external devices, simplify cabling and streamline installation processes in immersive and fixed-installation environments.
Despite the acquisition, Hive Media Control Ltd. will continue to operate independently, retaining its existing team, expertise and vendor-neutral approach.
Panasonic said current customers and partners would continue to receive ongoing product availability, support and development, now backed by the company’s global resources and scale.
