Gran David Producciones Boosts Inventory With Martin Audio WPC System

Gran David Producciones, one of Colombia's foremost rental companies, has upgraded its Martin Audio arsenal with the WPC Wavefront Precision system to raise performance across larger, more demanding shows.

The company had long relied on legacy Martin Audio models, including WL8C cabinets and S218+ subwoofers. As event scale and expectations increased, the team determined that a modern, more controllable system was required.

Building on years of success with the brand, and working closely with Martin Audio's Colombian distributor AVCOM—supported by the Proactive LATAM Technical Hub—the move to the latest-generation WPC platform was a logical step.

Following thorough evaluation, Gran David Producciones invested in 20 Martin Audio WPC cabinets powered by five iKON IK42 amplifiers.

WPC (Wavefront Precision Compact) is a next-generation, multipurpose line array engineered to deliver high‑density output and even coverage for medium‑to‑large applications. The three‑way, bi‑amp design combines 2 x 10" low‑frequency drivers, 2 x 5" mid‑range drivers and 4 x 1" high‑frequency compression drivers.

The upgrade has yielded immediate operational wins: WPC is quicker to rig and set up, with simplified cabling, while requiring fewer amplifiers and consuming less power than the previous system.

In terms of sound, the company reports a step change in performance, with wider and more consistent coverage, higher SPL and notably clearer high‑frequency detail.

The rig has already supported a series of high‑profile events featuring Yeison Jiménez, Grupo Niche, Elder Dayán, Heber Vargas and La 33.
