Wisycom Adds Three-Channel IFB Mode To MPR60 In Major Firmware Update

News Image
Wisycom, a global provider of advanced wireless RF solutions, has announced a significant firmware upgrade for its MPR60 Wideband IEM/IFB Receiver, debuting a new multichannel IFB mode aimed at large broadcast and live production workflows. The update will be showcased at NAB 2026 (Booth C4428).

The new mode enables up to three IFB audio channels to ride on a single 200 kHz RF carrier, dramatically increasing channel density. When paired with the Wisycom MTK982, operators can run up to 60 IFB audio channels within an 8 MHz TV channel, or 45 within a 6 MHz TV channel. With one MTK982, users can transmit six audio channels, cutting the need for two additional transmitters as well as RF combiners or antennas.

Despite the higher density, the system maintains full wideband coverage from 470 to 1,260 MHz and preserves Wisycom's established RF robustness, supporting dependable performance in congested RF environments. This efficiency allows denser system designs without compromising signal integrity or range.

Engineered for multi-feed productions across wide coverage areas, the solution targets major broadcast operations, racing-format sports, OB units and international touring events. The MPR60’s newly confirmed IP65 rating enhances suitability for outdoor and mobile use, while its compact form factor eases integration.

"We have some of the most demanding customers, who are touring the world with their extensive and quite impressive broadcast solutions to ensure the events they are supporting can be watched by millions of people," said René Moerch, Group Product Director of Wisycom. "These clients will heavily benefit from the fact that this additional feature of the MPR60/MTK982 pair can minimize rack space and preserve the RF robustness required for such highly demanding and RF overcrowded events."

Users can select among 1‑channel wideband IFB, 1‑channel narrowband IFB and the new optional 3‑channel IFB modes, each providing different audio bandwidth characteristics. The MPR60 remains compatible with Wisycom’s MTP60, MTP61 and MTH610 transmitters for single‑channel IFB, while 3‑channel operation requires activation via a licence on the MTK982. The firmware also adds ENR and ENC companders for improved backward compatibility with legacy Wisycom systems.

An optional multichannel IFB licence can reduce hardware requirements by enabling one MTK982 dual transmitter to cover workloads that might otherwise need three units. It supports two RF carriers and up to six audio channels, and further reduces associated infrastructure such as combiners and antennas.

The MPR60 and MTK982 hardware are available now. The new features will be offered via a separate licence from 22 April 2026. For existing systems, firmware must be updated to MPR60 v1.3.0 and MTK982 v2.6.0, and Wisycom Manager to v5.0.0. The full firmware/software package will be released on 22 April.
