Imagine Introduces AI-Assisted Scheduling

Imagine Communications has announced the introduction of AI-assisted scheduling capabilities within its Landmark™ Rights & Scheduling platform, with the new functionality set to be demonstrated at the NAB Show 2026 in Las Vegas from April 19–22.

The development reflects a growing demand across the media industry for practical, workflow-driven applications of artificial intelligence. Designed to support broadcasters and content owners facing increasing operational complexity, the new capabilities aim to streamline scheduling processes while maintaining full control and security within existing environments.

As organisations look to better manage rights portfolios, optimise resources and respond quickly to shifting audience behaviours, Imagine's AI-assisted technology focuses on automating repeatable, non-prime scheduling tasks. By applying machine learning to areas such as overnight and off-peak scheduling, the system reduces manual workload and allows teams to focus on higher-value editorial and strategic decisions.

"This development is about helping our customers work smarter, not replacing the expertise they rely on every day," said Vicki Knox, director, commercial product management, at Imagine Communications. "We're using AI as an assistant — learning from how planners already work, respecting existing business rules, and eliminating time–consuming busy work so teams can focus on decisions that drive performance."

The Landmark Rights & Scheduling platform enables media companies to manage rights and create detailed schedules across live, streaming and on-demand content. By combining programming and advertising into a single, frame-accurate playlist, the system helps maximise the value of content while targeting specific audiences more effectively.

A key focus of the new AI-assisted functionality is data security. The technology operates entirely within each customer’s existing Landmark environment, ensuring that sensitive data remains protected and under the organisation’s control — an important consideration as concerns around data privacy and intellectual property continue to grow.

"Media companies trust us to respect their data and their operations, and that trust is fundamental to our development strategy," said Dan Walsh, senior vice president, product management, at Imagine Communications. "Imagine is focused on purpose-led innovation — the kind that solves real problems, improves real workflows, and gives customers confidence that they’re building on solid ground."

The AI-assisted capabilities are already available within the platform and have been demonstrated to a number of global media organisations. Early feedback has highlighted measurable improvements in efficiency, greater consistency in scheduling, and the ability for teams to dedicate more time to prime-time planning and long-term strategy.

The launch also reflects wider industry trends, with automation and AI now frequently cited as core requirements in broadcast and media technology procurement. By focusing on clearly defined workflows and developing the technology in collaboration with its customers, Imagine Communications is positioning its approach as one centred on practical application and real-world results.
