Grass Valley And NVP Upgrade LALIGA Broadcast Production

News Image
Grass Valley has completed a major live production deployment with NVP, delivering enhanced image quality and production capabilities for LALIGA broadcasts.

The project was developed in response to LALIGA's request for proposals, which emphasised the need for cutting-edge technology and scalable workflows to maintain its leadership in broadcast production. The resulting system is designed to improve visual output while supporting the large-scale demands of live football coverage.

The deployment will support more than 760 matches per season across both LALIGA EA Sports and LALIGA HYPERMOTION competitions, setting a new standard for high-volume live sports production.

Founded in 2007, NVP has established itself as a key player in international sports broadcasting. Building on its existing partnership with Grass Valley, the company designed a solution aligned with LALIGA’s focus on innovation and premium image quality. Following its appointment to handle production for both first- and second-division matches, NVP implemented a unified infrastructure capable of managing a significant volume of live content while elevating broadcast standards.

Working alongside Grass Valley and integration partner Video Progetti S.r.l., the system was deployed within a tight timeframe ahead of the new season. The solution spans both traditional outside broadcast (OB) operations and remote production environments.

At the core of the deployment are 144 cameras, including LDX 135 and LDX 150 systems. These are installed across seven OB trucks for top-tier matches and eight additional units configured for remote production. All cameras support native 4K UHD, with high-speed capture capabilities enabling enhanced replays and live action coverage. The setup also allows simultaneous UHD HDR and HD SDR production.

Hybrid workflows are supported through a combination of SDI and NativeIP connectivity, while JPEG XS compression from the camera head helps address bandwidth limitations in remote production scenarios. The system's flexible licensing model also allows additional features, such as super slow motion, to be enabled as needed.

"Innovation is in NVP's DNA," said Ivan Pintabona, CTO at NVP. "With the LDX 150 and LDX 135, we are not only investing in cameras, we are investing in the future of live production. In particular, the LDX 135 cameras have demonstrated exceptional performance in real-world field operations, delivering a clear step forward in terms of image quality, HDR handling, and overall consistency in demanding live environments. These systems allow us to deliver UHD HDR productions with the highest level of reliability, while ensuring we can scale quickly."
