AEQ Powers IP-Based Launch Of Correio Da Manhã Rádio In Lisbon

Medialivre, formerly Cofina, is among Portugal's largest media groups.

Founded in 1995 and listed on the Lisbon Stock Exchange in 1998, it has had footballer Cristiano Ronaldo as its principal shareholder since 2023.

The group runs five newspapers, including national title Correio da Manhã, publishes nine leading magazines such as GQ, Automotor and Vogue, and operates Correio da Manhã TV. Its offer has now expanded with the addition of Correio da Manhã Rádio.

For the new Lisbon station, Medialivre’s technical team selected AEQ to equip almost all audio and video facilities, covering mixing consoles, audio codecs and visual radio. At the heart of the studios is the AEQ CAPITOL IP digital mixing console, with communications handled by AEQ VENUS 4 audio codecs and the AEQ SYSTEL VoIP telephony platform. The setup is complemented by the AEQ VISUALRPLUS visual radio solution.

Interconnection and installation are supported by AEQ HB02 interface boxes and the AEQ NETBOX matrix. The entire infrastructure is IP-based, providing multi‑channel connectivity via the Dante‑AES67 protocol.

AEQ CAPITOL IP offers IP connectivity through a single integrated module managing 16 input and 16 output channels. It provides a broad input range: 4 mic/line, 12 analogue, 4 AES/EBU (AES3) stereo digital and 2 USB stereo digital, plus up to 2 optional telephone hybrids. Optional multichannel digital links include 16 AoIP channels via two Ethernet connections or up to 64 MADI input channels over fibre.

AEQ VISUALRPLUS is a comprehensive visual radio platform that augments the radio experience with video, working with PTZ cameras and automatically generating visual content alongside standard production for online streaming or even traditional television formats. Its integrated NDI‑compatible mixer handles up to 8 video inputs and supports unlimited transitions, macro programming and on‑screen preview. The FX MIXER provides up to 4 Picture‑in‑Picture channels, 6 DSK, layered graphics, recording and playout, and a multi‑format AV player with individual playback.

With this infrastructure, Correio da Manhã Rádio gains a fully integrated, IP‑driven environment ready for modern multimedia content production and distribution. AEQ's audio, communications and visual radio tools give Medialivre a flexible, scalable platform aligned with new digital consumption habits. The project was led by the technical services department at Correio da Manhã Rádio in collaboration with AEQ’s local partner, DECIMAGEN.
