Appear's X Platform Secures YouTube SRT Verification

News Image
Appear has confirmed that its X Platform has been verified by YouTube for Secure Reliable Transport (SRT) streaming to YouTube Live.

The approval covers Appear's X5, X10 and X20 hardware, enabling broadcasters, rights holders and production teams to deliver resilient, low-latency, high-quality live streams for news, sport and major events.

"Becoming a YouTube-verified encoder partner is a significant step forward for us and our customers," said Thomas Bostrøm Jørgensen, CEO at Appear. "It reinforces our position in professional-grade IP contribution and gives our users a powerful new route to reach global audiences across one of the most important platforms in digital media."

The verification followed demand from the market: a leading European broadcast platform asked YouTube to add support for Appear encoders within its workflows. That request led to a joint effort between the two companies, culminating in full validation of Appear's hardware-based AVC/HEVC encoding and SRT streaming — broadening Appear's interoperability across FAST, OTT and hybrid broadcast ecosystems.

"YouTube collaborates with technology partners to ensure their products meet our highest standards for reliability and performance when streaming to YouTube Live" says Callum Hewett, Live Solutions Consultant, YouTube. "We're pleased to verify Appear's X Platform for SRT delivery which we hope will streamline content delivery for all of their partners. It's been great working with Appear on this and I look forward to seeing high-quality, resilient live production workflows delivered to YouTube via the Appear platforms."

The customer-led initiative underlines Appear's growing role in professional live streaming beyond traditional broadcast, creating new avenues for broadcasters, rights holders and sports federations to connect directly with global audiences.

Appear also spoke at LiveCon 2025, YouTube's annual live-streaming summit, hosted at its London HQ in Pancras Square in December. The company outlined how its SRT-enabled X Platform helps organisations of all sizes take control of live content, reach underserved communities and boost engagement.
