MOG Solutions release metafile duo at IBC 2004

MOG Solutions’ will present two innovative products at IBC2004 on Stand No. 3.324 that will enable accelerated development and migration to the next generation of IT-based multimedia content applications.
Taking advantage of the recent standardization of SMPTE specification for the storage of descriptive metadata in MXF, MOG Solutions has released, the award-wining ‘MXFExplorer’ and the ‘theScribe’. These applications allow broadcasters to get the most of the new file format oriented workflows. Among the new features, one of the major highlights this IBC is the integration of MXF with TVAnytime systems, which will be unveiled at MOG Solutions’ Stand No. 3.324 and at IRT’s Stand No. 10.539.
MXF, also known as the Material Exchange Format, is being adopted throughout the whole industry. For example, Sony e-VTR and XDCAM, Pinnacle Palladium, Panasonic P2 cameras and Omneon Media Server already support MXF natively. MXF can be used to wrap any kind of media and metadata, as well as multiple streams and playlists. SMPTE’s Descriptive Metadata Scheme version 1 (DMS-1), which defines a metadata model for broadcasters, allows users to link production metadata and essence and to store these in the same MXF file. This reduces to zero the chance of losing metadata about a captured stream, rights or other production information.
A revolutionary application theScribe will allow users to add or modify metadata in any MXF stream, using a PC. In case you need to find the file that contains the scene that was shot last year about the ‘Queen Mary II’, you can use MXFExplorer: it has integrated search facilities to track down any MXF file in your system. MXFExplorer is a full-fledged MXF player, with integrated media and metadata visualization. MXFExplorer and theScribe integrate seamlessly with other MXF-aware devices.
MOG Solutions’ commitment to interoperability and open standards goes beyond these applications, offering manufacturers and system integrators the ability to use the MXF technology in their own products and solutions. MAM systems, video servers, editing and playout applications, capture devices and virtually any product can now easily interoperate with the new wave of MXF-aware products just by using MOG Solutions’ development tools: MXFComponentSuite and MXF::SDK - developed in cooperation with IRT. MOG Solutions’ customers, such as Telestream or Front Porch Digital, are proven examples of the low-effort integration and very short time-to-market that MXFComponentSuite and MXF::SDK can bring to MXF migration.
