BBC Post Production Custom Consoles System 2 motorised workstations

Custom Consoles has won a broadcast contract involving the supply of edit suite furniture to BBC Post Production in Bristol.
System 2 motorised workstations with monitor shelves are being installed, one in each of 14 edit suites. Each desk is 2700mm wide by 1300mm front to back. The first four were delivered at the end of July. Each suite will also be supplied with a 27U high Custom Consoles equipment rack, two chairs and a 750 x 400 x 1,800 mm (WHD) tape store with five adjustable shelves. The desks are of maple-veneered MDF with dark blue Marmoleum worktops. The tape racks are also maple-finished.
Custom Consoles Sales Manager Gary Fuller said: "The System 2 desks were chosen both for their robustness and for their compliance with European health and safety directives. They greatly reduce the risk of repetitive-strain injury by allowing staff to adjust the height of the desktop and adjacent surfaces between 0.7 and 1.1 metre to match their personal preferences. This brings additional benefits where desks and equipment are shared by staff of different height."
System 2 desks are designed to accommodate standard office equipment, computers, graphic processors and screens. Pushbutton-controlled electric motors in the S2-01 desk and S2-02 monitor shelf allow quick, easy and inherently safe height adjustment via a panel located just below the front surface of each desk, four user presets being provided to store frequently-used settings. Workstations to match a variety of applications are available, based on a range of System 2 modules.
