Stockport Plaza Screens Short Film Promoting Fostering

Stockport Plaza is screening a powerful short film that highlights the life-changing impact of foster care.

Titled The Run, the film will be shown throughout the year at the town's iconic art-deco cinema and theatre, playing before classics such as When Harry Met Sally and All About Eve.

Produced in partnership with Stockport Council and other local authorities nationwide, the short aims to raise awareness of fostering and encourage people to consider becoming foster carers.

The story follows Tom, an 11-year-old, contrasting his need to run away from danger and a chaotic home life with running as a sport, and shows how the love and support of a foster family can transform a child's future.

Councillor Wendy Meikle, Cabinet Member for Children, Families & Education said: “We have an urgent need for more foster carers and we’re so grateful to the Plaza, which is such a well-loved Stockport institution, for helping us raise awareness and ultimately encourage more foster carers to step forward to provide loving and safe homes for the children and young people in Stockport who desperately need one.”
